Former UFC middleweight title contender Paulo Costa has pulled out of his bout with Russia’s Ikram Aliskerov on July 29 at UFC 291 in Salt Lake City.
This was reported by sources close to the Russian middleweight team. According to available information, Georgian fighter Roman Dolidze, who occupies the ninth line in the UFC middle division ranking, can replace the Brazilian. Representatives of the organization have not yet made official statements on this matter.
In May of this year, 30-year-old Ikram Aliskerov made a successful debut in the UFC, knocking out American Phil Howes in the first round and chalking up his fourteenth professional victory.
Roman Dolidze, 35, broke a four-game winning streak in March, losing a unanimous decision to Italy’s Marvin Vettori.
Recall that the main event of the UFC 291 tournament will be a lightweight fight between Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje, who will compete for the vacant BMF championship belt, vacated by retired Jorge Masvidal.
