The 2021 PFL featherweight champion, Russian Movlid Khaibulaev, who advanced to the semi-finals of the competition from the third line at the end of the group stage this season, was injured and pulled out of the upcoming fight with the Brazilian Gabriel Brago, which was supposed to take place on August 4 at the PFL 7 tournament in San Antonio.
The nature of Khaibulaev’s injury and the timing of his return to the cage are not reported. According to available information, Chris Wade or Brendan Lonein, who finished fifth and sixth in the group, respectively, can replace the Russian in the semi-finals.
A pupil of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, 32-year-old Movlid Khaibulaev, this year reached the playoffs of the season, winning a unanimous decision against the Japanese Ryoji Kudo, and finishing with the arm triangle choke in the second round of the American Tyler Diamond.
