UFC bantamweight number two, Merab Dvalishvili, wants sixth-ranked former interim title contender Cory Sandhagen as his next opponent.
“I called him in 2019. He called me a couple of months ago. This fight makes the most sense. The second number against the fifth. Go UFC! Let’s make it happen!” the Georgian fighter wrote on the social network, raising his potential opponent by one position in the ranking.
Merab Dvalishvili, 31, is on an impressive eight-win streak, winning a unanimous decision over Jose Aldo in his last bout.
Cory Sandhagen, 30, got his career back on track in September after two straight losses with a TKO win over Song Yadong. Prior to that, the American fighter lost a split decision to T.J. Dillashaw and a unanimous decision to Petr Yan.
