Contracts for the fight have not yet been signed, but it is expected that this will happen in the near future. Presumably, the fight will have a challenge status.
Magomed Ankalaev, 30, is on an impressive nine-fight streak, finishing with a TKO of former UFC title contender Anthony Smith in his last bout.
39-year-old Jan Blachowicz returned his career to a successful track in the previous fight, defeating Aleksander Rakic ahead of time, who, due to a leg injury, could not continue the fight. Prior to this, the Polish fighter lost the UFC light heavyweight championship belt, losing by rear naked choke to Glover Teixeira.
Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev are currently ranked second and third in the UFC light heavyweight division, respectively.
