Reigning Bellator featherweight champion Patricio Freire, who regained the belt in a rematch with AJ McKee in April of this year, successfully defended his title against division number two Adam Borich.
The fight that headlined the Bellator 286 event in Long Beach, Calif., went all the way to a unanimous decision victory for the Brazilian, 48-47, 49-46 and 50-45, with the latter score most closely reflecting what was going on in the cage. For most of the fight, Pitbull dominated his opponent both in the standing and on the ground, and two rounds given by one of the judges to a native of Hungary can only be considered a royal gift.
In the second most important event of the event, AJ McKee made a successful debut in the Bellator lightweight division, defeating Spike Carlyle with a score of 29-26, 30-26 and 30-27.
Among other results of the tournament, we note the victories of Russian fighters Islam Mammadov and Khalid Murtazaliev. Mammadov defeated the American Nick Brown three times with a score of 30-27 in three rounds, and Murtazaliev finished by technical knockout in the second round of Khadzhimurat Bestaev, representing the United States.
The third Russian participant of the event, Vladimir Tokov, was defeated, losing by a split decision to New Zealander JJ Wilson.
