After learning from the UFC president that Colby Covington wants to fight and is ready to fight, the organization’s sixth welterweight, Jeff Neal, announced his readiness to share the octagon with the former interim division champion.
“I wanted to fight Gilbert Burns, but he is busy chasing Jorge Masvidal, who is busy trying to get a fight with Leon Edwards, which he obviously will not get,” the American fighter wrote on the social network. “I’m trying to get to the title. Colby Covington, how are you? Let’s keep the welterweight division great!”
31-year-old Jeff Neal won two fights in a row, defeating Santiago Ponzinibbio via split decision and knocking out Vicente Luque.
34-year-old Colby Covington got his career back on track in March this year after another loss to Kamaru Usman, defeating Jorge Masvidal by unanimous decision, and is currently second in the division rankings.
