Having won a controversial victory over Arman Tsarukyan, the eighth number of the UFC lightweight division, Mateusz Gamrot, plans to return to the octagon no sooner than in four months.
The Polish fighter announced this in the next issue of the MMA Hour program, commenting on the information that the UFC management wants to organize a fight for him with Benil Dariush, who occupies the sixth position in the ranking.
“There are a lot of superstars in the lightweight division – the top 10 has only big names, big fights, and top-notch opponents,” Gamroth said. “Dana White named Benil Dariush, but I heard that he wants to return in the next two to three months. It does not quite suit me – I am guided by November-December. If Benil waits for me, great, we can fight. If not, I hear Justin Gaethje wants to come back at the end of the year. I’m a big fan of this guy and I want to fight him. If Justin doesn’t mind fighting me, let’s do it at the end of the year!”
Recall that the lightweight fight between Mateusz Gamrot and Arman Tsarukyan, who headlined the UFC on ESPN 38 tournament in Las Vegas last weekend, went the whole distance and ended with the victory of the Pole by unanimous decision with a score of 48-47 three times.
