The previously undefeated Nurmagomedov fought two more fights under the banner of the largest mma promotion, finishing behind Sergey Morozov and Brian Kelleher by choke.
For 30-year-old Nate Maniss, the poor performance was the first defeat in the UFC, where he had previously fought three fights, winning a decision against Johnny Munoz, strangling Luke Sanders and knocking out Tony Gravely.
