Khabib Nurmagomedov called the main champion quality

All MMA News

Former UFC lightweight champion and former top UFC fighter of any weight class, Khabib Nurmagomedov, has revealed what a valuable quality no fighter can count on to become a champion without.

“The difference between fighters and champions is that champions can handle the pressure,” the undefeated Russian told Brian Roberts. “There are many fighters, but not all of them can become champions. You can only become a champion if you learn to handle all that pressure. You take that pressure and channel it in the right direction. You can use it. That’s the difference between just fighters and champions.”

“I knew how to handle it and how to control it and I used that pressure to my advantage. Many fighters entering the octagon cannot control themselves when they are watched by millions and pressure is applied. But when you feel that you can not only control it, but also use it against your opponent, you win.”

Earlier it became known that 33-year-old Khabib Nurmagomedov, who retired in October 2020, will head the list of fighters who will be included in the UFC Hall of Fame this year. The ceremony will take place this summer at International Fight Week in Las Vegas.
