Alexander Volkov’s look, with which the Russian heavyweight drilled his rival, stepped into the octagon, had the exact opposite effect on Tom Aspinall, convincing the Briton of his easy victory.
“Volkov did not take his eyes off me – I think he wanted to intimidate me, and this made me laugh,” the Englishman said at a press conference in London. “You can ask in my corner – Volkov continued to look, and I was taken apart by laughter. At that moment, I realized that everything was going to be very bad for him. You could see it in his eyes.”
Recall that the Russian-British heavyweight confrontation, which headlined the UFC Fight Night 204 tournament in London last weekend, ended already in the first round with the defeat of Volkov by a painful hold on the arm.
After the fight, the Drago manager made a statement saying that mental fatigue was the reason for the defeat of his ward, and that big changes awaited the Russian team.
